LEAD DESIGNER JUSTIN GARGASZ • CATAPULT

JUSTIN GARGASZ • CATAPULT

Popular in the 80s and 90s, the Catapults were a style staple worn by icons like Karl Malone, Michael Jackson, and Paula Abdul. Now, the Catapults are back and are better than ever, thanks to LA Gear's designer Justin Gargasz.

When asked how he had redesigned the classic shoe style, Gargasz explained his commitment to aspects of the original shoe detailing, upgraded comfort technologies, and contemporary style.

The lowtop Catapult is available in men's white x black, neon yellow x black, blue x green, black x purple x yellow, black x orange, and women's white x black, neon yellow x black, black x pink, and mint x black and includes LA Gear's iconic light feature.

"The light is in the tongue of the shoe, and the battery, embedded in resin, is in the midsole." A two-hour charge will give the rechargeable LED tongue 10-12 hours of light time; an easy access on-and-off button is behind the shoe's tongue.

The Catapult's new structural design is architected with genuine leather, a removable comfort gel sock liner, and comfort EVA technology: a dual-density comfort midsole and 3D molded heel.

The Catapult is a part of the Heritage collection and joins the Flame, Turbo, and Dave Osokow's Boardwalk and retails for $125.
